Ivan The Adorable

Maybe 2 years ago I entered into an exchage of Emails with Marc Williams, a top flight wedding and advertizing photographer, and Mikal Grass, an attorney here in South Florida specializing in adoptions. Mikal was getting married and wanted Marc to shoot color and the posed formal shots at the wedding. I was to cover the wedding with my Leicas and shoot traditional black and white. None of us had met one another before in person. We just knew one another through an internet photography forum. There's already one of my photos on this BLOG of the bride, Natalie, walking down some stairs. Well, all went well, Mikal and I became good friends, and although he likes scanning his negatives and shoots mostly in color, once in awhile he runs a few rolls of B&W through his Leicas and has me develop his film and print up some contact sheets. Natalie had little Ivan several months ago, and Mikal brought him along to meet me at a Starbucks about halfway between his house and mine. (It's actually a lot closer to mine, but don't tell him.) When Mikal needed to run back out to his car to get something I got to hold Ivan and play with him for a few minutes. With my ever present 15mm lens I immortalized the moment by firing off half a dozen frames of him on my lap. Now I have some more contact sheets ready for Mikal and I sure hope he brings Ivan along again. I really like kids. Mine are all grown up, but so far no grandchildren.
